Will you… marry me?
Now contrary to popular belief, the priest does NOT ask the crowd whether if theres any objection to this union, or forever hold your peace bla bla. Nope. What happened to democracy eh? And freedom of speech hmm? Or maybe I’m watching too much tv. Sheesh. =.- Nevertheless,
I always liked attending weddings. I envisioned myself at the altar…….. just being the pianist. Haha. =p My (long long ago) experience as a bridesmaid and flowergirl was, really cute. *misty eyes* ~I feel pretty, oh so pretty..~ But I digress. Anyway, the bride looked absolutely splendid, and her husband-to-be.. well, elation was an understatement I guess. =) It seems their love story spanned 3 decades, he was in love with her during PRIMARY school. (what the) *thinks* I simply cannot imagine marrying a primary school crush. (I DID practice my new signature should I ever marry the cute guy in front) Cmon, you guys do that too right? *falters* Right? Heh. And dinner at Concorde was good, they had fortune cookies! I love fortune cookies. =) And the funny thing was, the couple was invited to the stage for a toast. And that toast turned out to be just proclaiming "CHEERS!", the expectant crowd was whispering amongst each other, others were still holding up their glasses waiting for the jubilant "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAM SENG!" but it never came. Aunt Janice said it was because the pastors were present. Lol. A "CHEERS!" will do for that dinner I guess. =p And here, I would like to wish Uncle Steven and Aunty Vivian a happy life together, forever! Yay! Viva la marriage. No, I’m not hopping on the marriage bandwagon anytime soon. I’m married you see. HEHE.
My JB trip
Grandperé wasn’t in a good condition when I saw him. His eyes and face were swollen. I wonder if speech is difficult for him. I spoke to him, elicited a response but he trailed off in the middle and fixed his eyes with a faraway look. At times, he would ask me questions, questions that he’d ask when he was healthy. An avid smoker for 40-50 years, being bed-ridden has forced him to stop abruptly. Leng told me of the withdrawal effects. I don’t know if hes coping well. A few months back, he slipped on a puddle and broke his leg. That confined him to the makeshift bed in the living room and has since depended on the wheelchair for movement. Moreover, since grandma Yeo and the rest are vegetarians, grandperé has been living on a rabbit diet. Relieved of his carnivorous ways, grandperé has shrunk in size. He seems so feeble now. Weak. It saddens me. It saddens me to see my usually exuberant grandperé reduced to.. I don’t know if God hears me. I hope He does. I do know for a fact that people like Jun are praying for him. Thank you, Jun. =)
On a lighter note, grandma Yeo is still very much herself. She would still lecture everyone within earshot, that’s her talent. However, the gray hairs are much more prominent now. Maybe taking care of grandperé has taken a toll on her. A staunch Guan Yin follower, she believes one should not waste rice and one should always eat rice they accidentally (purposely) dropped. She cited reasons like the how the farmers toil to produce our rice etc etc. When I was younger, (I’m still young) my table manners were constantly under heavy fire. I tried to be nice by helping with the dishes after wards but I got a full lecture instead. Annoyed, I retorted: "But I didn’t drop any rice!" She look stunned for a moment, perhaps its because no one ever spoke to her in that manner but nevertheless, she resumed her lecture shortly. Some things will never change.
I met up with brother Lak, one of my uh, relatives. Technically, hes grandma Yeo’s nephew so that makes him my uncle. However, hes just a few months older than I am so I called him bro instead. Its been 2 years since we last met, hes skinnier now. (Lak: You’re the skinny one. =.=) Life’s tough, or so he claims. I guess I’d say that too if I was holding two jobs. Everytime, he’ll never fail to ask me to consider something, something which I’d laugh and shake my head whenever he mentioned it. =p Pai kia! And he bloody tinted his car black. I mean, BLACK. Grr him!! Couldn’t quite agree with the interior though, it’s pink. ^.^ "
